Not to get too cheesy, but since it’s February and all, what band most sets a romantic mood for you?

Tool totally sets the mood for me. Not the lyrics, but the groove and the way the sound of Maynard James Keenan’s vocals are projected is interesting to me.

How do you stay active in Alberta’s music community?

With my time, energy, love. I put everything in it. The metal community is made up of my friends, my spouse, me. I’m not a musician, but my spouse is, so I’ve learned a lot and I can appreciate it and the support it deserves.

And what kind of support do you see in the community?

We’re open-minded. We’re always welcoming. Everyone’s accepted. Makeup, no makeup. I work for the government and I love that I can go from my day job to rocking my head off. I like that freedom. When you have a husband who is that social, and I’m a bit shy, the level of acceptance is unreal. It doesn’t matter what you look like. It’s about the music.
